I have well-developed discipline and focus with proven leadership experience in challenging and uncertain situations. I am adept at solving complex problems by unpacking the issues and developing a unique framework to find solutions. I can work with any organisation (small to large and domestic, regional and international) which has a problem which is more than just ‘business as usual.’
I am a career Air Force Officer and Company Director. My Air Force career has spanned 30 years, joining in 1990, with a variety of roles and experiences. A graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy, Royal Military College – Duntroon and the Australian Command and Staff College, and I have a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Physics) and a Master of Arts (Strategy and Management), as well as Diplomas in Management and Graduate Diplomas in Administration. Over the last ten years my career has been focused on strategy and planning, leadership and crisis management. This includes command of the airbase operations unit in Townsville, as well as being the Senior ADF Officer for the Base. I have been the Deputy Director responsible for Future Concepts in Air Force Headquarters, the Joint Control Centre at Headquarters Joint Operations Command, Lessons and Evaluation and now Capability Reporting and Analysis at Headquarters Air Command.
In addition to my Air Force career I have been a Non-Executive Director and committee member, focusing in the Not-for-Profit sector but with experience in the financial sector. The Director and Committee roles have allowed me to use my Air Force experience and apply them to non-military situations, displaying versatility, leadership and critical thinking.
The common thread through my military and Director career is strategic thinking and problem-solving. Understanding the strategic outlook, the second and third order effects of decisions, as well as the human impact of any given situation are the skills I bring to any situation.
